Weymouth Crematorium’s £50,000 refurbishment has begun today, with work scheduled to take place this year and next.

Improvements at the crematorium will include a new damp proof membrane for the floor, full decoration of the chapel and vestibule, refurbishment of the seats, pews and lecterns, new flooring and carpet in the chapel, stronger lighting in the chapel and vestibule along with new flooring in the crematorium public toilets.

The second stage of improvements will begin in late 2018 through to 2019 and will also see the office area and catafalque improved along with the construction of a new family room.

Part of the idea of the improvements is to bring the facilities up to date, making them more uplifting and making the crematorium a more pleasant place to visit.
