E Sargeant and Son Funeral Directors have donated £2,000 to keep Slough ShopMobility running in 2018.

The local service, which is run by Slough Community Transport, lends wheelchairs and scooters to people who want to access Slough town centre but are challenged by mobility issues.

The £2,000 donated by E Sargeant will keep the service running throughout 2018, meaning those who are more vulnerable and less mobile are able to carry on using the service, which enables them to get out and about.

E Sargeant and Son’s area development manager Mark Clements said: “We are delighted to be able to donate such a substantial amount of money to keep ShopMobility going!

“Knowing that this will enable the service to keep running for another year is great and I would like to thank Funeral Partners for helping E Sargeant to support such a local community cause.

“Once a service like this is gone – it’s gone. It takes much more money to restart a service than it does to maintain it so we really wanted to do everything we could to keep it going. We know how many people rely on the service and it is so important for people to be able to get out of their homes and explore the town.”

George Howard, chief executive of Slough Community Transport and Shop Mobility, said: “We are so pleased that Slough ShopMobility is able to open for another year thanks to the generosity of local supporters. E Sargeant and Son are always keen to support local projects and this is an excellent example of their work behind the scenes for Slough residents.”
