A large amount of cash including charity funds has been stolen from a funeral directors in Birmingham.

Urwins Undertakers in Kingstanding was broken into at around 5.10pm on Sunday 14 January. The thief was caught on CCTV cameras both inside and outside the establishment, breaking in through the roof.

He then knocked the door off its hinges before going through the drawers. He made off with the money which included charity funds.

Police have not officially released any of the CCTV images.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We were called to Urwins Undertakers on Rough Road, Kingstanding at 6.20pm on Sunday 14 January after a break-in. The premises was accessed after roof tiles were removed and cash was stolen.

“CCTV is being studied and enquiries are ongoing. We ask anyone with information to contact us directly by calling 101.”
