Westerleigh Group has announced the reopening of Wessex Vale Crematorium, following a two-week closure to install digital technology aimed at personalising funeral services.
The site closed halfway through last month for the renovation work. Updates include automatic blinds, new lighting, and a projection canvas covering the front wall of the chapel.
External welcome screens will display the name and photograph of the deceased. Inside, staff can project themed backdrops onto the front wall, accompanied by coordinated lighting and audio tracks.
Westerleigh Group operates 42 crematoria and cemeteries across England, Scotland, and Wales.
Sarah Barrett, manager of Wessex Vale Crematorium, said: “We are proud to be able to offer the opportunity to personalise funerals to unprecedented levels to our bereaved communities.
“The feedback received from Westerleigh Group’s SuperVenues already operating in other parts of the country has been extremely positive, and I look forward to supporting the bereaved near and further afield to have the chance to create the most memorable tributes to their loved ones.”
She added: “Whether it’s a waterfall or a seasonal background, or even a football stadium, there is a wide range of themes and choices available, with many options to tailor the displays to be specifically relevant to the person being honoured.”
