Independently-run Life Funerals has officially debuted in Newport to provide the Isle of Wight with its first dedicated contemporary funeral service.
The business aims to provide an alternative to traditional Victorian-style ceremonies and basic cremations.
Located away from the high street, the office features a yellow shopfront and modern interior designed to offer privacy for families and friends.
The firm offers a range of services including direct cremations, personalised celebrations, and eco-conscious options. It also allows residents to register their funeral wishes and plans for free.
The launch marks a shift in the local market, which has historically been served by long-established traditional firms. While similar modern services have operated on the mainland for several years, this is the first time such an approach has been tailored specifically for the island.
Founder Alex said: “Funerals are changing, but the Isle of Wight hasn’t had much of that choice – until now. People today want more meaning, more flexibility, and more honesty. Life will offer that – with care, transparency, and individuality at every step.
“Some low prices come from cutting corners. At Life, we believe you shouldn’t have to choose between affordability, dignity, or individuality.”
