Westerleigh Group has revealed that Woollensbrook Cemetery and Crematorium will undergo a renovation to install new technology designed to increase personalisation options for funeral services.
The site will close for the transformation between 18 April and 5 May, with services using the new digital systems scheduled to begin on 6 May.
The project includes the installation of external welcome screens to display service schedules or images. Inside the chapel, themes will be projected onto the front wall.
These visual displays will be supported by coordinated soundscapes and lighting. Families can choose from various themes, such as nature scenes or sporting venues, to reflect the deceased.
Crematorium manager, Mark Winnock, said: “We are proud to be introducing the opportunity to personalise funerals to unprecedented levels to our bereaved communities.
“The feedback received from our venues already operating in other parts of the country has been extremely positive, and I look forward to supporting the bereaved near and further afield to have the chance to create the most memorable tributes to their loved ones.”
He added: “Whether it’s a waterfall or a seasonal background, or even a football stadium, there is a wide range of themes and choices available, with many options to tailor the displays to be specifically relevant to the person being honoured.”
