Eltham Crematorium has received a gold award and was named Crematorium of the Year at the 2025 London in Bloom competition, which recognises parks, open spaces and community care for the local environment.

It comes as the Royal Borough of Greenwich was awarded gold and named best in category for Borough (Large City), while Well Hall Pleasaunce won gold in the Large Park category.

Eltham Crematorium, which is managed by a joint committee representing Bexley, Greenwich and Dartford councils, was commended for the “exceptional care and dedication” shown in maintaining a peaceful and well-kept environment for the community.

Cllr Sandra Bauer, cabinet member for equality, culture and communities, said: “We’re delighted to be recognised for consecutive years for our efforts to keep Royal Greenwich green and welcoming. These awards are a reflection of the dedication of our staff, residents and volunteers who work hard all year round to care for our parks and open spaces.

“I would encourage anyone who enjoys visiting our parks and green spaces to join a Friends of Parks group and work directly with our teams to make your local park even better.”

The London in Bloom competition celebrates councils, community groups and schools across the capital for making their areas greener, cleaner and safer.

Royal Greenwich is home to more than 100 parks and open spaces, 15 of which hold Green Flag status.
