£25,000 raised for soldier through in memory page
More than £25,000 has been raised online for Hound For Heroes in memory of a soldier killed in Afghanistan.
The platform, a website called Memory Giving, allows people to donate online through a dedicated page. One such page for Lance Corporal James Brynin, a 22 year-old intelligence corps analyst who was shot and killed during patrol, has garnered a huge response.
Hound for Heroes provides specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled military and emergency service personnel.
Lance Corporal Brynin’s mother said: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of people who have donated and also the tributes on his page. We are comforted by how many people are thinking of us and want to do something in memory of James.
“We were adamant that James wasn’t going to have loads of flowers at his funeral. He was 22, he wouldn’t have wanted that. We set up the donations page so that any money received could be given to a good cause.”
Memory Giving director Julian Walker said: “The response to Lance Corporal James Brynin’s page has been incredible. £1,000 was collected within the first day. It is good to see the tremendous generosity of people who want to remember James and to read the moving tributes left in memory of this outstanding soldier.”
