The National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) has announced a new five-year partnership with Obitus at its AGM weekend in Glasgow on Saturday 5 April.

This collaboration seeks to improve the customer experience by providing more personalised and meaningful attended services to bereaved families who use SAIF members to arrange funerals.

The partnership’s initial focus will be on research, awareness, and training to equip funeral directors with the confidence to offer media options.

Additional details regarding the joint plan for 2025/26 will be announced soon.

Obitus’ platform provides data and insights on how families are using media in funerals which, in turn, gives funeral providers’ “the confidence to expand and strengthen options for modern, impactful tributes”.

In addition to enhancing services for bereaved people, the partnership will provide Obitus with feedback to help evolve its platform and ensure that the technology “always meets the needs of funeral directors and families”.

Phil Perry from Obitus said: “We’re thrilled to be working closely with SAIF on this long-term partnership. Together, we can find new and exciting ways to improve funeral services and help families create the best possible farewell for their loved ones.”

Terry Tennens, chief executive of the SAIF, added: “This is an incredibly important partnership for our members. It places them at the heart of media innovation, ensuring they can offer the very best services to families. This in turn will reinforce the value and importance of attending funeral services.”
