Midlands Air Ambulance Charity has made a free Will writing service available to individuals aged 50 and above, in partnership with several local solicitors.

News of the offering comes as ONS data revealed that the average age to write a Will is 58, yet over a third of people aged 55 and over have not done so yet.

Participating firms include Waldrons; Harris Clark Rickerbys; TA Matthews; Graham Withers; Matthews Legal; Parry Carver; Rutherfords LLP; Glover Priest; Clowes and Co; Goddard Dunbar and Associates; George Green LLP; PSL Probate; Wall James Chappell; and FBC Manby Bowdler.

The charity has highlighted the importance of having a Will in place, and recommended that even those who already have one should review it every five years or after major life events.

While the charity stated that there is no obligation to leave a gift to MAAC when using the service, it found that many supporters choose to do so. In fact, one in four of MAAC’s missions are funded by a gift in a Will.

Pamela Senioré, legacy executive for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “It’s staggering to see that more than a third of UK adults over 55 do not have a Will in place. Passing away without taking care of those who matter most to you can result in unnecessary, emotional, and lengthy disputes. We are keen to break the stigma around the complexities that put people off making their Will.

“Remembering Midlands Air Ambulance Charity in a Will is a powerful way to leave a legacy that supports the charity’s lifesaving missions for years to come. Even the smallest legacy can help fund future lifesaving missions and make a lasting impact on the community. Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is incredibly grateful to those who choose to support them in this meaningful way.”
