Fosters Family raises over £1k for Alzheimer Scotland

Fosters Family Funeral Directors has hit its fundraising target and raised over £1k in support of Alzheimer Scotland with its recent ‘Tea and Blether’ coffee mornings. 

The funeral provider’s coffee mornings took place during Dementia Awareness Week – 27 May to 2 June – at its premises in Kilmarnock and Stirling. 

It welcomed local community members for tea, coffee, home backing, and friendly conversation, where both staff and local businesses generously donated a selection of raffle prizes, which added to the fundraising success.

Alzheimer Scotland is a dementia charity that works to improve the lives of people affected by dementia in Scotland by providing vital support services, raising awareness, and funding research into dementia.

Angela Harrower, Stirling funeral arranger at Fosters Funeral Directors, said: “We’d like to thank everyone who came along to our ‘Tea and Blether’ coffee morning. 

“The support from the community has been overwhelming, and we’re thrilled to have raised such a significant amount for Alzheimer Scotland.”

Carole Templeton, who helped organise the Kilmarnock fundraiser, added: “The funds will make a real difference in the lives of people living with dementia and their families.”

Fosters Funeral Directors has worked closely with Alzheimer Scotland, giving all of its employees access to ‘Dementia Friends’ training. 

A Dementia Friend is somebody who learns about dementia so they can help their community by raising awareness and understanding.
