Westerleigh Group has opened a new cemetery in Waseley Hills for the communities of South Birmingham, Bromsgrove and North Worcestershire

Waseley Hills Crematorium first opened in early 2022, with the cemetery opening at the same site at the start of this year.

When it opened two years ago, Waseley Hills was heralded as one of the most environmentally-friendly crematoriums in the UK.

Waseley Hills Cemetery and Crematorium benefits from uninterrupted views of the surrounding rolling hills, hedgerows, pastures and pockets of woodland, providing a picturesque, peaceful and special setting for services.

In addition, there is parking for 120 cars, with overflow areas available if required, and the contemporary chapel building can seat 105 guests, with significant additional standing room.

Claire Montague, manager of Waseley Hills, said: “Like all the Westerleigh Group sites, we are always looking to introduce additional ways for people to say farewell to, and remember, their loved ones in uniquely personal ways.

Opening a cemetery in our grounds here enables families to select a grave position while providing the added choice of both a Lawn section, with standard headstones, and a traditional section, which allows for a memorial with kerb sets surrounding the grave space.

She added: “Within each of these areas, families can select either a standard grave position or a path-side grave. Our purpose-built chapel, which features a distinctive living green wildflower roof, provides a warm, friendly venue for a uniquely personal funeral, with access to our extensive music library and tribute screens. Graveside services are also available.”
