Dignity plc has announced the appointment of Kartina Thomson as an independent non-executive director, and she will join the board with effect from 7 February 2022.

Additionally, Thomson will chair the risk committee and will be a member of the Audit, Remuneration and Nomination committees.

Thomson is a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, and brings over 20 years of actuarial, risk, governance and regulatory experience.

Prior to her new role, she was a director and member of the Insurance Regulation team at PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Prior to this, Thomson spent six years at the Bank of England, leading the general insurance risk specialists and supervisors. She was responsible for ensuring financial stability of the UK financial market through the supervision of risk management, capital and solvency.

John Castagno, chairman, said: “We are delighted to welcome Kartina to Dignity. She has extensive experience in risk management and regulation and will add significant value and insight to our board.

“I am committed to ensuring that Dignity has a compliant and independent board structure that enables the business to drive forward its new vision – Kartina’s appointment is an important step towards that goal.”
