Michael Walsh Funeral Directors, based in Carlisle, has revealed that it will be relocating to new premises on Church Street with the intent to officially reopen in Autumn.
The funeral directors were originally situated on Newtown Road in 1986 by owner Michael Walsh but for the past 16 years has been owned by Dignity Funerals who have now invested £278,000 to redevelop the new premises.

The previously vacant building has been reconfigured to include an arrangement room, where the families can discuss their funeral wishes with a caring member of staff, and two new Chapels of Rest.

Katie Walker, manager, Michael Walsh Funeral Directors, said: “We had been looking for new premises prior to Covid-19 striking but the pandemic has certainly highlighted the need for funeral directors to have the type of premises this investment has provided.

“It brings huge comfort to families to know their loved ones are being cared for in the best possible way until the funeral takes place. I believe that when families visit to make the funeral arrangements, they will appreciate the modern, lighter ambience and comfortable surroundings we now offer.”
