Scotland-based independent family funeral directors, Anderson Maguire, hosted its first online memorial service for over 300 families from across Scotland with family and friends joining online from the United States, Australia and Japan amongst others.

Organised by chairman Dom Maguire, the event was an opportunity for families to join together from across the globe to hear their loved one’s name read out and a candle lit in their memory.

Dom Maguire, chairman of Anderson Maguire Funeral Directors, said: “We know many people have not been able to have the funeral service they want or deserve for their loved one in recent months.

“We wanted to provide an online memorial service to provide some solace to families and an opportunity for all those who have been bereaved to come together as a community and honour their loved one.”

He added: “The last few months have also been incredibly challenging for us as funeral directors.

“Our natural instincts are to reach out to all those bereaved through physical touch and our inability to do that will continue for some time yet. We hope that our words and actions are testament to how much we care.”
