Bournemouth’s pioneering Good Funeral Awards event will feature in a Sky 1 HD documentary on Thursday 18 July as part of a new series called Great Little Britons.
The programme follows the coffin makers, embalmers and gravediggers who were nominated for prizes in 2012, and takes a humorous look at how the main judge, editor of the Good Funeral Guide, Charles Cowling, toured cemeteries and funeral parlours to find the country’s outstanding morticians.
Organiser Brian Jenner commented: “We had a day of blazing sunshine last September for the awards, so I’m sure they got pictures of Bournemouth at its best. Some of the most colourful figures in the business appear and we hope this TV exposure will give the image of the business a bit of a boost.”
The 2013 awards will be held at the Ocean View Hotel in Bournemouth on 7 September. They will be hosted by Pam St Clement, who played Pat Butcher in EastEnders, before she performed a dramatic death scene in 2012.
