Service of dedication at Lichfield Crematorium

The service chapel at Lichfield crematorium was officially opened with a dedication service led by the Rt Revd Jonathan Gledhill, Bishop of Lichfield.

Clergy and local dignitaries attended the service alongside representatives from the Co-operative, with a plaque being unveiled by Isabel Mattick, president of the Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities, to mark the occasion.

The Co-operative has invested £3.8 million in the facility in the district of Fradley, which has been built to provide a much needed service in the area. Families can benefit from an enhanced service, with the crematorium providing one-hour service times compared to the typical 30 minutes, as well as a service chapel, which can accommodate more than 80 people, a music system and a book of remembrance.

The Co-operative Funeralcare’s managing director, George Tinning, who attended the dedication, said: “I am delighted to have attended the official opening of the crematorium. The crematorium is a truly impressive facility and provides families with a peaceful, countryside setting in which to pay their final respects to loved ones.”
